چکیده

High resolution space-borne remote sensing image data show a high level of detail and provide manifold opportunities to be integrated into remote sensing applications. In particular, surface mapping from stereo data sets becomes feasible with a height accuracy in the meter range. Following the focus on forest applications of the Institute, the feasibility to determine tree heights from high resolution space-borne Ikonos stereo data but also from airborne stereo image data acquired by the digital UltraCam camera was investigated. A comparative quality assessment of the achieved results was made with respect to those achieved from laser scanning and with respect to in-situ field measurements.

Handling of High Resolution Space Images in Z/i Imagestation

High resolution space images are becoming more and more important as their resolution and availability improve. Images having a ground pixel size of 0.6 m or 1.0 m are competing with classical aerial photos. The space images cover large areas, reducing the number of control points needed. If rational polynomial coefficients (RPC) are available, the number of control points can be reduced even f...

Forest Inventory Attribute Estimation Using Airborne Laser Scanning, Aerial Stereo Imagery, Radargrammetry and Interferometry–finnish Experiences of the 3d Techniques

Three-dimensional (3D) remote sensing has enabled detailed mapping of terrain and vegetation heights. Consequently, forest inventory attributes are estimated more and more using point clouds and normalized surface models. In practical applications, mainly airborne laser scanning (ALS) has been used in forest resource mapping. The current status is that ALS-based forest inventories are widesprea...

Object-Based Classification of UltraCamD Imagery for Identification of Tree Species in the Mixed Planted Forest

This study is a contribution to assess the high resolution digital aerial imagery for semi-automatic analysis of tree species identification. To maximize the benefit of such data, the object-based classification was conducted in a mixed forest plantation. Two subsets of an UltraCam D image were geometrically corrected using aero-triangulation method. Some appropriate transformations were perfor...
